Jetboating
Q. What type of Jetboat do you run?
A. We have a x2 single engine 11 seater Jet Seeker Comtour commercial Jet Boats. They are designed for shallow water and need only 4 inches of water.
Q. Do we get wet?
A. You may get a bit of spray off a spin but your clothing won’t get wet.
Q. Can we take infants?
A. Yes we have baby and infant life jackets and can tailor the trip to suit. 0-3yrs Free 3 – 13 years child rates.
Q. What to wear?
A. Warm/water proof jacket, camera, sunglasses/sunblock. In the colder months warm beanie and gloves.

Q. What do I need?
A. Day pack, water, lunch, insect repellent, sunglasses/hat, warm/waterproof outerlayer, good walking shoes, walking poles if you usually walk with them and camera.
Q. Do you do pick ups from Wanaka?
A. Unfortunately no we don’t you will need to make your own way here. Check out Yello Taxis or Intercity Bus service for transport to Makarora.
Q. Is there any river crossings?
A. No we can drop off on the track side of the river. There are small side creeks on the track that you can step over.
Q. What is the weather doing? Will it rain?
A. We operate in the NZ mountains prepare for the worst and expect the best. We monitor the forecast to the best of our ability and will endeavour to make early weather calls so you can get the most of your day.
Makarora Township
Q. Where do I get cell phone service?
A. Makarora is located 45mins out of Wanaka on State Highway 6 heading towards the West Coast. We at the moment do not have any cell phone service. The community is working on it and hope to have it soon.
What to bring
Whatever wilderness experience you choose, your safety and comfort are important to us. Please note: We supply all safety equipment including life jackets and waterproof jackets. We highly recommended the use of sunglasses, sun block, sun hat and insect repellent, especially in the summer months. In winter warm clothes are required. We recommend a fleece jacket, warm hat and gloves and a windproof/waterproof outer jacket. For eco-trekking options you will need to take a picnic lunch and an adequate water supply. Wilkin River Jets reserves the right to amend/alter/or cancel any trip due to unsuitable weather/river conditions and activity demand.
