General FAQs

We have a two single engine 11-seater Jet Seeker Comtour commercial Jet Boats. They are designed for shallow water and need only 4 inches of water.

You may get a bit of spray off a spin, but your clothing won’t get wet.

Yes, we have baby and infant life jackets and can tailor the trip to suit.

0-3 year olds are free. 3 – 13 year olds have child rates.

We suggest you wear a warm/water proof jacket. In the colder months, please also wear a warm beanie and gloves. We would recommend trainers, or a closed toe shoe.

Do also bring your camera, sunglasses/sunblock.

Due to DOC concessions, we are not able to boat up to the blue pools.

Heli Siberia FAQs

Yes – please call the Back Country Helicopter office on 03 443 8351 24 hours prior to your activity for a weather and departure check.

Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your departure time to check in.

Whatever wilderness experience you choose, your safety and comfort are important to us.

Please note: We supply all safety equipment including life jackets of all sizes.

Please bring:

  • A day pack with
    • water
    • snacks or lunch
    • sunglasses
    • hat
    • sun screen
    • insect repellant
  • A warm/windproof outer layer
  • Good walking shoes/hiking boots
  • Hiking poles (if you usually walk with them)
  • A camera

We highly recommended the use of sunglasses, sunblock, sun hat and insect repellent, especially in the summer months. In winter warm clothes are required. We recommend a fleece jacket, warm hat, gloves and a windproof/waterproof outer jacket.

For the hiking options, you will need to take a picnic lunch and an adequate water supply.

There are no river crossings, however there are a number of side creeks which you will need to step over. After periods of heavy rain these creeks may be in flood, in which case you might get your feel slightly wet!

We encourage you to film on the flight! However, selfie sticks are not permitted to be used in the helicopter. No drones are allowed in the National Park.
